Most people know the name of Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill. But do they know his biography? He was born in the aristocratic family on the 30 of November 1874. His father was an English politician. His mother was an American socialite («светская львица»). Sir Winston was a British politician like his father. Before becoming the Prime minister he held many political and cabinet positions. In 1924-1929 Winston was Chancellor of the Exchequer (канцлер казначейства). In 1930`s Churchill warned society about dangerous Nazi Germany and began a campaign for rearmament (перевооружение). In 1940 Churchill became Prime Minister. His refusal to consider (признать) defeat helped inspire (вдохновить) British resistance (сопротивление), especially during the difficult beginning of the Second World War when Britain stood alone in its active opposition to Adolf Hitler. When Hitler invaded (вторгся) into the Soviet Union, Winston Churchill decided to help us and soon Soviet Union got British tanks and weapon. Churchill led Britain as Prime Minister until victory over Nazi Germany. After the Conservative Party lost the 1945 election, he became Leader of the Opposition. After winning election in the 1951, he became Prime Minister until his retiring in 1955. One of the greatest leaders of the 20th century, Churchill was also a historian, a writer and an artist. In 1953 Churchill won the Nobel Prize in Literature.  Sir Winston died on the 24 of January 1965. He was named the Greatest Briton of all time.
