1.About two hundred years ago man lived in greater harmony with his environment because industry was not much developed. Today the situation is quite different; the contradictions between man and nature are dramatic.
3. Much of our waste, waste from factories, the chemical industry, heavy industry are very dangerous. Fish dies in the lakes, rivers, seas; forest trees die too. Much of this dangerous waste goes into the air and is carried by winds for great distances.
4. People don't have enough oxygen in big cities. They suffer from smog. You can hardly breathe the air any more in our cities. And think of noise. Nowadays most city centers are simply too noisy to live in. We've got to live with a motor car but we've got to become its master and not its slave.
5. The Earth is our home. We must take care of it for ourselves and for the next generations. This means keeping our environment clean. The importance of this task is pointed out by ecologists, the scientists who want to control this problem. Each of us must do everything possible to keep the land, air, water clean.

Большинство наших отходов, отходов от фабрик, химической и тяжелой промышленности являются очень опасными. Большая часть этих опасных отходов попадает в воздух и переносится ветрами на огромные расстояния. В больших городах люди не получают достаточно кислорода. Они страдают от смога. В наших городах едва ли можно дышать таким воздухом. И только подумайте о шуме. В наши дни даже жить в центре города тяжело из-за шума. В нашей жизни есть место автомобилям, но мы должны стать их хозяевами, а не рабами.
Планета Земля является нашим домом. И мы должны о ней заботится ради себя и ради последующих поколений. А это означает следить за окружающей нас средой, поддерживать ее в чистоте. Даже экологи и ученые, которые хотят контролировать эту проблему, указывают нам на ее важность. Каждый из нас должен делать все, что он может, чтобы сохранить землю, воздух и воду чистыми.
