In today's world, where the boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred, and only the lazy does not open their own business, few will deny the need to speak a foreign language. Even the cleaner understands that it is useful to know at least a few foreign words – and suddenly have to work in a hotel where all the information signs in English and it is impossible not to deal with guests coming from other countries.
Of course, it is convenient to have a single language for communication, which would be owned by the majority of the world's population. At different times, these languages were French, German and Latin. Now it is English, so from the first class, and even before we begin to repeat the importance of knowing all the nuances of the language and strive to start teaching it as quickly as possible.
Why is it English? We can not say that the reason for its simplicity and intuitiveness – Italian or French in some places in this sense is much easier. Rather, the reason is that you want-you do not want, and the main tone in many areas of activity is now set by America. This trend can be traced back to the eighteenth century, at a time when the active process of anglicization in the British colonies began. In those days, it touched mainly the United States and Canada, but during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the English language spread to other countries, and therefore rooted his perception as a "language of career growth." Currently, there are cases of official transition to English at universities in Europe (for example, in Italy). The British acted with the rest of the world as with the population of the territories of the British Isles in the middle ages (and remember it always existed in the tsarist Russia the expression "Englishwoman shits").
