9 клас. АУДІЮВАННЯ Text ADVENTURE HOLIDAYS
Sophie Doyle is from the travel organization Adventure Holidays International. She is telling us about some exciting ideas for teenagers for the summer. We organize three-week trips to a variety of destinations. These may be from late June to mid-July in the USA and the first three weeks of August in the case of Australia. Trips to New Zealand are available from early September, when the weather is a little warmer, bearing in mind that our summer is their winter. The Australian holidays are currently the most popular. There are always four experienced leaders with every group, which consists of 18 young people aged 15 or 16 at the time of the trip. This means there’s one leader for every 4 or 5 teenagers, all of whom are close to each other in age. Accommodation is different from tents at a summer camp. In fact, there’s a whole range of places, from huts in the rainforest to motels on the desert roads, boats when we are visiting tropical islands and comfortable apartments in surfing resorts. It all generally begins when we meet the teenagers at Brisbane Airport. We take them to a hostel on the coast and help them settle in. After a good night sleep, which they probably well need after all that travelling, we introduce them to the travelling companions. They spend the whole day on the beach, swimming and surfing. The next morning it’s off to Fraser Island which is in the record books as the biggest island on the Earth made entirely of sand. It is a long way from being a desert island, though. It has beautiful lakes, huge forests and some fascinating wildlife. The next stop is in the outback; it’s really a huge area where almost nobody lives. There is a chance to see some remarkable animals including kangaroos, of course, and spend the night Australian-style: by the campfire in a sleeping bag. After the outback comes a boat trip into the tropical rainforest, with its big fish, huge crocodiles and giant butterflies. Then some days spent diving near the Great Barrier Reef and back to civilization.
In this section you will hear a text twice. After the first reading of the text you are to read 10 statements, decide, which of them are true and which are false and mark the corresponding answer (T or F) on your answer sheet next to the number of the sentence (1-10). After the second reading of the text you are to read 10 multiple-choice statements or questions (11-20), decide, which of the answers (A, B, C or D) best corresponds to what you have heard and mark the answer on your answer sheet.
